Interview with Motocross Rider Sayler Shaver

Who is Sayler? Sayler is a 6-yr old motocross racer from Southern California who loves proving that girls belong on the gate just as much as anyone else. She was diagnosed with Level 1 autism and ADHD, and instead of letting that define her, she’s using her platform to inspire other kids to chase their dreams no matter what challenges they face.

When did she start racing? Sayler started riding when she was 4 years old and quickly fell in love with motocross. What began as a fun family activity turned into a true passion, and she’s been chasing checkered flags ever since.

What was her first bike and first motocross race? Sayler’s first bike was a Yamaha PW50, where she learned the fundamentals of riding a dirtbike and built her confidence. Her first motocross race was at lake Elsinore raceway, and from the moment the gate dropped, she was hooked. That first race sparked a love for competition that continues to grow every season.

What is Sayler’s goal to help others like her? Sayler wants to be a role model for children with autism, ADHD, and anyone who has ever felt different. She hopes to encourage kids to believe in themselves, step outside their comfort zones, and never let a diagnosis or other people’s opinions determine what they’re capable of. She wants every child to know they belong and that their differences can become their greatest strengths.

What is her favorite activity off the track? When she’s not racing, Sayler loves spending time outdoors, riding bicycles and e-bikes, swimming, playing with friends, and making fun video and doing a lot of art. She also enjoys hanging out with her family and finding new adventures wherever they go.
